a re-make would ruin Columbo

even if Shane Black wrote and Richard Donner directed

Agree, could not be remade to imitate... It would be a shambles ...... but the old Columbos would still be the same👍

Nothing ruins Columbo.

I always wonder why people think some people making something new will somehow 'ruin' something that has already been made, or happened.

No one can ruin your childhood, as it already happened, you no longer have it.

Nothing can ruin Columbo, sans editing or destroying every single copy of every single episode that exists (which would be quite a feat).

Just because someone makes something new, doesn't mean it ruins something old. Let them make all gender-reversed James Bonds, Dr. Whos, Thors, whatever they want. I am curious to see how they plan to make any of it work. A female Columbo would be GUARANTEED to be hilarious, especially if they try to make it a serious show.

I say nothing gets ruined, so BRING IT ON! I like to laugh.

I disagree that it would "ruin" Columbo. If it sucks, then people will forget about it, and the Original Columbo still rules.

I would be interested in the writing of some new episodes. I lost the URLs, but I used to have some links to some stories (not the paperback book series) that were actually pretty good.

The Columbo formula is easy enough to follow. I'd be interested to see it done today.

Sure, you're always going to compare the new actor vs. Peter Falk, and it won't be pretty, but maybe a writer could pull off a few compelling episodes for our entertainment. If it sucks, they won't get very far.
