The gun Lillian used was supposed to be loaded with blanks, so Charles would just fake his death & scare Abigail. But when Abigail went through his pockets later on, he seemed totally dead. How did Charles die?

shareIf you have Netflix, which is where I watched it, go check it out. While Charles is on top of Lillian "choking" her, Abigail grabs a knife or letter opener (couldn't really tell what it was) and stabs him in the back 7 times. That's why I was wondering how you could've missed that. She worked him over pretty good.

I was surprised that after getting shot he started choking Lilian. Enough already.Yep! That was really dumb. Charles went to Plan B whilst Lillian was still playing to Plan A, inviting trouble from Abigail.🐭 share
It was just an elaborate plan to get Abigail out of the apartment.
Lilian needed money to escape, so maybe she thought she could convince Abigail to take her to the bank. Meanwhile, Charles would retrieve the thumb drive.
Then either of these scenarios could happen:
1) Lilian ditches Abigail and meets up with Charles later. They have the thumb drive and clean out Abigail's account.
2) Same as above but they kill Abigail (mentioned above as Plan B).
3) Lillian and Abigail pull a Thelma and Louise and disappear together.
No matter the conclusion, the staged fight was just a very elaborate scheme to get her out of the apartment so that Charles could retrieve the thumb drive.
A better approach would've just been to have Dr. Ray retrieve it sometime. She must've gone to the bathroom at some point while they were together.
