Should I let my grand kids watch this movie? And other questions...

They are 6 and 7 years old, a girl and a boy.

I'm only kidding. But I do have some serious questions. Spoilers below.

Why is Ed (I believe his name was) the fast food boss with the band members when they get Erica? He's not part of the band from what I can tell. It's only a 3 man band. Frankie was fired from his job from what I gathered, so why is his boss hanging around with the band members?

Did Nate kill the wife and daughter of Ed?

Did Nate sleep with Erica on their honeymoon and did he know about her HIV/AIDS?

Why is there not a police officer in the entire film despite everyone screaming their heads off?

What happened to the coworker who tried to rape her in the employee restroom? Nate used a hammer, but no police involved (major plot holes here), and no indication what happens to the guy. Do the Brits (director) just think our police can't solve murder cases or what?

Who is she spying on in 27:55? It's a man and woman sitting on the couch watching tv. The guy is drinking a beer with his shirt off.

What's with the pictures she's cutting up?

Why would Frankie ask her to marry him? The writing on this film is just crazy. He doesn't even know her. This made no sense to me. And then why torture her and imprison her? There is no logical reason for him to do this. I can understand the murder (from the anger of his mother's death), but there is no reason for the torture and kidnapping. Bad writing.

Overall the movie left a mark on me. The first hour is extremely slow, and I kept looking at the running time on the netflix dvd. Some parts of the movie are extremely bad. Other parts you can't tell what's going on- which to me is bad movie making (and why I don't like Mad Max: Fury road despite everyone else loving that film). Despite the slowness, getting to know the characters does make what happens in the last 40 minutes more powerful. But I really did find all the characters unlikable. But I'm a sucker for revenge movies I guess (it's why I love Unforgiven so much). Unforgiven is another movie with many characters of low moral value, but is a much better film than this one. High Plains Drifter is another revenge film I love. Despite this film's faults, I did really enjoy the ending (kind of a twist ending which explained his motivations), and the ending made the film work for me. The film could have left out the torture, I think they only put that in there so young kids (by kids I mean teenagers) would watch the film. I don't understand why young people enjoy torture scenes.

I give this film marginal thumbs up. I found it interesting. I can't say I enjoyed it, I'm sure I'll have nightmares LOL, but I have a feeling I'll remember this film for a long time (most films are forgettable and I forget the entire plot). I figure if I remember a film months or years after viewing it, then it's a good film. Despite some horrible music score, plot holes, and questionable writing, I think I'll remember this one.

Boy that must be annoying to be a stupid *beep*.

1. Because Ed was his friend

2. He kills the parent, but leave the daughter alive

3. He did not *beep* her, since he's a psychopath probably never was interested, and the "crazy question" was to ask her in marriage, she said yes because she knew/understood he wouldn't *beep* her, so she felt okay with him.

4. Because we're not in BS cop movie or TV.

5. Same

6. Her parent

7. Her highs chool crush she regrets or maybe her mums boyfriend who raped her

8. It's bad writing, it's just you who is a tasteless simpleton *beep*
