Whatever happened to really handsome French actors and actresses?

Roman was puny, scruffy, and looked like he needed a bath.

Even without opening her mouth, I could see something was wrong with that girl's teeth - my grandma had two back molars pulled, and it changed the shape of her face.

When I saw the tooth gap, that just made it worse - there's nothing wrong with a tooth gap, but combined with that emaciated face, it just wasn't attractive.

I guess beauty is as beauty does - Alain Delon, Romy Schneider, et al were to die for back in the day.

Oh well - it's a new generation!

Romy Schneider? Not Catherine Deneuve, not Jeanne Moreau, but Romy who was Austrian.

I am French, not a big fan of (recent) French cinema, but we still have handsome actors and actresses. They are not as famous as Delon, Deneuve, Bardot, Schneider etc... back in the days, but wouldn't you say Marion Cotillard, Lea Seydoux, and for males I guess Guillaume Canet and Jean Dujardin (don't know women tastes, some would say Vincent Cassel I guess) are quite handsome? Also Emmanuelle Beart used to be stunning 10 years ago, not no mention in the 90's, Sophie Marceau who played in a James Bond as well (and still very good looking for a 47 y old). Ofc I could give some other names but they will not be famous outside France (Clotilde Courau, Audrey Fleurot, for example).

To conclude I'd say we still have handsome actors and actresses but they don't have the international aura and acting career that classic French actors and actresses you mention had, because Delon Bardot etc... had not only their beauty but they were big stars around the world. Now except Marion Cotillard, Jean Dujardin and Lea Seydoux among a few others we don't have actors that are famous around the world, and not on the same level as Schneider and such anyway.
