I just watched this film and it actually is pretty damn good! The story was a bit creepy and the acting was much better than I thought it would be...kept me going from beginning to end which is more than I can say about most movies like this...

I prefer this film to any of the Saws.
What's a "lier?" You mean liar I assume.
Anyway, 6/10. Not bad not great. By biggest gripe of this film was its lack of a back story to Jacob. Yes his father killed himself, yes he was in a mental institution etc. but they never really explain his thing with the DIE, or why he decided to play this game of chance in the first place.
Another thing that bothered me, was that the The psychiatrist guy(forget his character name) had only a 1/6 chance to live, while everybody else from my recollection had 50/50 or better.

Hi I know you post this ages ago but I have just watched this movie. The reason for the die and chance is that at the beginning Jacob goes to the dining table where his father is. He asks his father what he is going to do and he says he doesn't know yet. He gives Jacob a die. Jacob rolls a 3 and his father takes 3 bullets and then shoots himself

I expected another thin-story, bloodfilled, cheap SAW-movie; an excuse just to show shocking scenes. But i got pleasantly surprised! It's no masterpiece, but for it's genre, it's a real nice movie. If you don't expect too much, you'll probably enjoy it too.

totally agreed, except that i would overall say that it was pretty bad. it was very well crafted when it comes to almost every aspect of the film, but the crucial elements plot and overall scriptwriting utterly failed, so the overall product fails.

Im glad i'm not the only onw who like's this. it's really not as much like saw as people are trying to make out.
The movie has a point and a mesage and to write it off as a saw copy is unfair.
I agree with having low expectations, a part of me was execting it to me hilariously bad. But the acting is some some of the best for a horror movie I have ever seen!.

Saw this film a week or so ago.
It wasn't bad at all. Not the best in the genre, would have liked them to stay more with the prisoners or how to call them and less with the investigators, but ok.

I just watched this movie, and I really liked it. Caterina Murino is such a good actress. In fact, the acting was great. I remember seeing Elias Koteas in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as Casey Jones, and he was really good in this film.
shareI thought this film was ok, seems to be the average opinion. It came close to break thru and being very good, but I gave it a 5/10. Solid performances, editing, cinematography, but underdeveloped premise and main character.
It seems he was reliving his father's death, but ultimately I felt his goal of "rebirthing" or whatever his victims was unfounded. People following him like a cult was over the top for a movie whose premise sets off at first to be rooted.
