UGHHHHHHH THIS MOVIE IS BURNING MY TV WITH IT'S HORRIBLENESS

THE ACTING IS TERRIBLE!!!! *finally changes channel after 7 mins of viewing*

i thought it was alright. alittle bit rushed, but still interesting.

i had been familiar with the case thru reading about it in the papers and hadn't made up my mind if Gordon was guilty or not.

And I was glad to see that the movie didn't make things black and white. By the end of it you still didn't really know what happened. I guess only gordon knows.

Hmm, Overall I don't agree that the acting was terrible. It belonged to the naturalistic school of acting , I think, so perhaps you prefer a more obviously dramatic style.

Perhaps I do tend to agree a little re Garry McDonald, a bit out of his deppth I thought, but you could hardly fault David Lyons or Cariba Heine.

I wasn't around in Australia at the time,so don't have much of a take on the guilt or innocence of Gordon -and by the end of the movie I thought Lyons acting was good enough to keep a person guessing. And Heine made a good job of playing a girl , who, while not exactly a rocket scientist, was not an airhead either.

How am I a troll if I am just stating my opinion? I hardly consider this post a troll post, even though the title heading is a little over the top. Still, the film is horrible.

It was a TV movie and one that was rushed into production as soon as the guilty verdict was handed down. you should lower your expectations for such movies.

reply

^^ I don't lower my expectations for movies because of the circumstances they were made in. If it's a bad movie because it was made in 3 days with a $40,000 budget, it's still a bad movie. If it has an All-Star Cast with a $150,000,000 budget, it can still be a bad movie.

I haven't watched all of it yet, I recorded it, so I'm only judging on what I have seen so far, and it looked ok from what I saw of it. Sometimes these tv movies are not that well developed, but this actually looked better than previous ones I'd seen. I didn't know much about the case, so it interested me.

A lot of people have your kind of attitude to australian tv shows and movies, which rubs off on others, and then nobody even gives them a chance.

"Horrible" is too strong a word imo for this movie, that is reserved for films like Takeaway. This is certainly not the worst thing I've seen, and at least it is based on a true story. I don't really see what else they could've done with it than to show both sides and leave the audience to decide what happened.

I thought Cariba Heine, who I've never heard of or seen before, but from what I saw she did enough with what she was given. David Lyons was good. He was also very good in aussie movie Cactus. He was probably the standout.

Wow, you are so weird, I actually enjoyed "Take away"...even though it is of course no masterpiece.

I actually didn't mind it. I think the guy . . .didn't check his name, did a good job of playing Gordon. Gordon always struck me as a guy who always thought himself as charming and sophisticated . . . but never as much of those things as he actually thought he was. And the guy who played Rene made me lol, I thought he did really well.

I liked it. Does anyone have a clue as to why Wood lied about Caroline's death, but couldn't even stick to the same lie? Everyone he spoke to, he gave a different suburb where she'd supposedly been run down.

I'm just surprised the cops didn't fit the boyfriend up for the crime anyway. There's been plenty of people in Australia "fitted up" for crimes they could never have committed.

I watched this on netflix along with the other true stories in the series. What the video left off is the fact that the conviction was over turned on appeal 3 years later. Seems to me the case was botched by the local police who didn't even bother to take photographs showing where exactly the body was found. The appeals court apparently didn't accept that the body was found where the original court case said it was.
