What was in the box?
At the end i was expecting it to be something really awesome which would have made everything a lot easier but they just never opened it.. does it say in the book what's inside? Sorry but i've never read the book.
shareEach "Number" has a box which contains various items. Some items heal, others are useful in combat. In the book John can't open the box on his own until he gets his full Legacy abilities. Before that he can open it with Henry, both together. If the protector dies prior to a Number getting their full powers, then the Number can open the box on their own. The movie doesn't go into much or anything about the box though.
shareI did find that quite bizarre, they built up the mystique about what could be in the box and then it is never opened. I'm assuming it was left that way in case they decide to do a sequel

Yeah, in the books John opened the box with Henry at the fight at the school. Henry used a healing item, showed John that. But John never used much more of the box's items until later in the story, in other books. Holding it over for the sequel may be part of the reason to not show it. But in the books Henry was also training John heavily on how to use his powers, and that included at least some discussion on the box contents, if I remember that right, but that apparently didn't fit in with how they wanted the movie to go.
