Better than expected

At first I was very negative towards the franchise since it comes from James Frey's book packaging assembly line intended to cash in on the young adult paranormal craze.

But I have to admit that, as cliche-filled as it is, IAMNF the movie is pretty entertaining. The story has forward momentum, Timothy Olyphant lends gravitas, the young actors are engaging enough, and the special effects and production values are good. While it's definitely a post-Twilight project with its indie music soundtrack and quick declarations of undying love, it's clearly trying to capture the male demographic as well by amping up the action. And it's superior to similar recent products like Secret Circle and Teen Wolf. Overall, IANF mostly comes across as a fairly well done mash-up of Roswell and Smallville. 6/10.

I agree. It was much better than I expected. I thought the book was awful, but I enjoyed the movie.

I'm not a huge fan of D J Caruso, but I think it's his best film.
