What the hell was that?? **spoilers**

I'm at a loss for words for this movie. I mean, what in the hell was the point in the whole thing?
So the babysitter and boyfriend became the other couple before they were dead? What was the significance of the tree and the apples? And what was with the yellow balloons? And that ending...what in the hell? I mean, this movie would have been way better if the plot (if you even want to call it that) made any sort of sense, or even had a point to begin with.
I watched the whole thing, but that's only because I was hoping for some sort of explanation for any of the stuff that happened. There was none.
