This is the best on offer?

If CoJ2 is the best western game on offer the definitely count me out...this has to be one of the worst games I've ever played in all aspects.

Story, graphics, gameplay, everything...it is all hideously flawed.

Story-wise; talk about "meh" we have two gung-ho idiots that are about as intelligent as a mentally handicapped 5 year old. We have the younger goody goody brother who can't stop ranting about the Bible and the Lord, the stupid whore who uses people to get what she wants but is never truly blamed for being the cause of all the trouble and so on and so forth. If the character isn't a cliche then he suffers from poor character development, there is a problem with them all...

Graphics wise; horrible by major release standards. Dodgy voice acting/lip sync work, a terrible over-use of character models, don't even get me started on the piss poor draw distance of the game...it's ridiculous. This is the standard I'd expect from an extremely light-weight game developer with minor league game publisher funding and where are the real graphic controls? I've seen better graphic controls on flash games.

Gameplay; talk about BOOOORRRING...if you're gonna try and add an open world approach then look at games like Far Cry 2 or the GTA series. Adding random optional linear side missions and the ability to ride around looking at nothing does not make an open world/sandbox style game. There needs to be some substance to the world one can explore...not just randomly scattered bandit attacks on civilians where every third one consists of the exact same scripting and voice overs.

Speaking of voice...what is up with these brothers making almost the exact same remarks every 20 seconds..."two is hardly a challenge" etc etc etc...hearing these remarks constantly is slack. I thought FC2 was bad with random guys talking about another guy shooting himself in the foot...at least I only heard that about once every half hour...

On another topic, the aiming system is shocking. By gaming standards, when a crosshair goes red or whatever colour when passing over an enemy, that doesn't mean a near miss that blows his hat off, that means a hit...that is how proper hit-boxes work. The hit-boxes in this game are atrocious. I've been right next to countless enemies, my gun and crosshair smack bang aimed in the middle of his face and then fired several shots only to find one shot actually hit and even though it hit him in the face, it didn't kill him...

Really guys? This is the best western themed game on offer? This is the best Ubisoft or anyone else for that matter can provide?

Well thats your opinion. Personally its one of the better games I've played, and a lot of people say the same. Maybe its just you... maybe you're a dushbag!

And a whole heap of people think The Jonas Brothers are awesome and that the Twilight series is a great example of literature. But no perhaps I am a "dushbag" but for future reference, please use correct spelling in any derogatory remarks you may wish to make.

However, did it perhaps cross your mind that my standards might be a tad higher than a lot of people? Perhaps I'm not so easily impressed by cheap graphics and poor storyline when a game lacks the fun aspects it should have to make up for the failures in other areas.

If a game lacks good graphics, good storyline, good gameplay, good game design, good voice acting and everything else a game needs to be good is it not okay to call it out? To ask whether or not there is anything better on the market?

I mean, most other people here may be fine with such poor work but after the release of games like Bioshock, Crysis, Far Cry 2 and Prototype and those of their ilk, is it too much to ask game developers to at least excel in one area of making a game?

The voice acting was top notch. Don't confuse over use of lines during gameplay for poor voice acting. Those are to very different things.

I don't know how you can complain about the draw distance when there was no noticeable draw distance. Were you playing on a computer that couldn't handle the graphics? The environment was one of the best I'd seen in any game as of late. The character models weren't complex, but they got the job done.

The story was a typical western type story. If you don't like it, that's your opinion, but it fits well with in the western genre.

This wasn't a snadbox game. It had some elements, but it wasn't a sandbox game like GTA or Far Cry. Comparing this to those game is flawed.

Far Cry 2 was a horrible flawed game. The enemy spawn system was enough to make me put the game down for good after a few hours. Honestly, you can clear out a checkpoint, but the bad guys magically spawn back a few minutes latter.

I'm not an actor. I just play one on TV.

ya you probally have a shyt system- i thought the graphics, when maxed out..are stunning- from the sun glare to the dust devils whipping up. It's total eye candy. The only complaint i had (as with most games like this)is the dumb a$$ AI.

I'm pretty sure an Intel E8400 (OC'd to 4GHz), 4Gb of 1033MHz RAM and a nVidia GTX-260OC can handle this game. Considering I had everything on full. In comparison to other major release games the graphics were actually quite poor, don't mistake adding more bloom to things as being stunning.

1. Yes, ok...poor choice of terms for the dialogue issues.

2. Noticeable draw distance? You failed to notice that rocks and shrubs and weeds on the ground only appeared when within a range of 20-30 metres at best?

3. Wow, a typical cliched story for the genre? That was my point! It's cliched, it has been done to death. Break some new ground.

4. Of course it wasn't a sandbox game but as I said...if you're going to add elements from other types of games then don't half ass it.

5. The spawn system was mediocre in Far Cry 2 and what else? If one flaw that has no real effect on your gameplay ruins a game for you then how on earth did you enjoy this game? You have a case of some weird double standards my friend.

And as I stated to another poster, my PC specs handled this game just fine.

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it. Me on the other hand had a great time playing it, and even though the characters were cliche as hell, I enjoyed the development of the story and how I ended up caring about them. The one thing I didn't was how that whore Marisa never got what she deserved.
