Another Yonk fallacy, as most Canadians do not pronounce 'about' as 'a boot,' with the exception of some on the East Coast. Yes, I live on the Atlantic coast and personally know no one that pronounces it like that.

'Eh,' on the other hand? Yeah, many of us (including myself) are 'guilty of that one.

Btw, do you know what the Yonk equivalent of 'eh' is? Hunh. :<>

aboot for about is very northern English and Scottish. hence the statement ''There's a mouse loose about this house'' comes out as ''There's a moose loose aboot this hoose''

I know zilch about Canadian history but were there a lot of Scottish moved there in the past...then maybe some of that dialect came too.
