shareAnother Yonk fallacy, as most Canadians do not pronounce 'about' as 'a boot,' with the exception of some on the East Coast. Yes, I live on the Atlantic coast and personally know no one that pronounces it like that.

aboot for about is very northern English and Scottish. hence the statement ''There's a mouse loose about this house'' comes out as ''There's a moose loose aboot this hoose''
I know zilch about Canadian history but were there a lot of Scottish moved there in the past...then maybe some of that dialect came too.
