AHMET ZAPPA??!!

Two days after seeing this, my mind is still boggled from trying to adjust to seeing the name of AHMET ZAPPA in the credits as co-producer and author of the "original story". Imagine if it were possible for Ahmet to ask Frank what he thought of the movie... and how Frank might phrase his response...

It's an accomplishment, and outside of the music business, so it's more his own.

True enough. His other son, Dweezil, as talented as he is, has spent quite a few years now not only playing music, but playing music composed by Frank and accompanied by former members of Frank's various bands.

I caught the name in the opening credits. It made the movie even more special to me. And I'm not sure if people know who he is, or who Frank was (a friggn GENIUS!). In Ebert's review, he mentions the screenwriter, but not Ahmet.
Such an odd story, which I liked. And it was fleshed out with some wonderful characters and actors.

I was very pleased and proud that Ahmet wrote this. I think his old man would be proud. Whatever criticism he'd have of the storyline would be discussed between the two of them. Frank raised some talented kids, didn't he? And, I don't see their names in the tabloids, no drug rehab or public meltdowns. Good for them!

I've been a Zappa fan since around 1969 and I was really amazed that the original story is written by his son, Ahmet. Thats cool man...
