Is this movie good?

...to those who have seen it?

Honestly, when I first saw the trailer I thought it looked like a cute, perhaps sappy movie but I thought I'd see it...but then again, I don't want to spend $$ on a movie that ends up sucking so yeah...i want opinions! Lol But it seems like noone is talking about this movie! So im not sure of its from lack of advertising or or if really sucks.

Anyways, if you saw it, what did you think of it? Thanks in advance!

I saw it yesterday with my daughter who really wanted to see it. The theater (and this was in the heart of Times Square where it's usually jam packed) was practically empty, so I don't expect it do much box office-wise.

It looks sappy and it IS! I cried a couple of times. I heard others crying and sniffing too. Whether or not you should pay to see it... I can't tell you that, lol. I can't even, in good faith, recommend this movie. If you want to kill time and you're near a theater and if you're interested or have a kid who's interested, meh, check it out, I guess. Otherwise, I'd suggest you wait for it to come on pay-per-view, Netflix, Amazon video or something like that.

It just didn't work for me. I think it woulda been better had it been animated. This story was some stuff that could only work in cartoon form.

You could probably accurately predict whether you'd like this movie by looking at the other work of the writer-director, Peter Hedges:

Dan in Real Life (writer-director)
About a Boy (writer: he adapted Nick Hornby's novel)
Pieces of April (writer-director)
What's Eating Gilbert Grape (writer: both the novel and the adaptation)

I saw the movie on Weds and thought that the film was fantastic.

This movie is good. Whether you will think it is good is totally up to you. There is enough to work with. If your joy comes from complaining, you can find that too. But the movie is great. Timothy looks for what is good in any situation and changes people. He is also true, even when it embarrasses. It might be a good concept for anyone to consider. Our happiness is largely what we create.

Thanks guys! :) yeah I'll still see it then. Actually, I was supposed to see it last week but my friend begged to watch The Expendables 2 instead (which I enjoyed) so maybe sometime this week I'll get to watch this lol.

SO did I.

No! It's oddly absurd and badly acted.

It is a strange movie. Personally I liked it. I thought it was beautifully shot. It's kind of a fantasy, so if you get hung up on what isn't possible it will end there for you. A lot of people in the theater cried. It can definitely pull at your emotions. Whether it's "good" or not is really up to the individual.

reply

I didn't care for it, to be honest though it wasn't my type of movie; I prefer action or sci-fi movies.

reply

I thought that the film was good and it is good to see different types of films.

reply

Its not very good. The film is way to sentimental predictable and its just really underdeveloped in all aspects. The characters were way to underdeveloped. I think I need to see a really depressing movie just to get the excess sentiment out of my system. I came away from this movie still wondering what the point of it was. Skip it and see it later on TV.

well thanks a lot for spoiling the ending, if you're going to post spoilers you should hide them under spoiler banners so that those of us who want to watch the movie can do so without having the ending given away

reply

You ARE aware, chasityglazer, that the IMDb editors REQUIRE you to place "SPOILER ALERT" at the beginning of any post in which you're about to reveal key scenes or plot points, right? Well, if you weren't aware before, now you are, and please for the sake of the rest of us, don't do it again.

reply

Was NOT aware, as I saw so many other messages that were similar to my message. Deleted the message and truly do apolgize for any people I spoiled it for.

Your apology is accepted, at least by me. (Wouldn't know where the others stand.) I checked your registration page and saw you're a "newbie" to IMDb as a poster, so you're forgiven. You would have learned the policy sooner or later, as well as some other polices the editors have. (For instance, they won't publish birthdates for underage actors and actresses submitted by posters.) Welcome to the posting club! :)

I took my 14 year old granddaughter to this movie last weekend. She cried through the whole thing. It was a very good movie if you aren't looking for a lot of thought provoking depth. Wait and see it at the dollar theatre.
