Great suspenseful movie with a brave ending (spoilers)

I really did not expect him to die. Instead I was completely expecting your typical Hollywood happy ending but they didn't do that. They teased us a few times, firstly with the hallucination of the coffin being opened & him being rescued, then the phone call by the Hostage Working Group guy calling to say he was close, and then the sudden realization he wasn’t going to be saved.

A brave ending with a ton of suspense. Overall, a superb movie that was carried so well by Reynolds.

I completely agree with everything you said. I too expected him to be rescued at the end, and the fact that they went in an unexpected direction made it even better. Quite a movie, and yes, Reynolds was terrific. A nice departure from his typical rom-com/comedy roles.

Yeah I agree.

Just had my second viewing . Still as good as I remembered.

I like films that end like this cos if it were real, this likely would happen.
