I worked in this movie

It's premiering next Wednesday at Sundance in the Eccles Theater and a few other theaters throughout the week. I am anxious to hear what you guys think. Respond to this thread when you see it.

reply

So, what exactly did you do?

reply

Post-production. Specifically, sound effects editing. Which usually elicits a "HUH?" from people.

reply

My son is Timmy Casady in the film. We can not wait to see it. How did it turn out?

reply

Very well, I think. There are obviously some flaws. I think since the source material is very stream-of-consciousness, the movie strikes the same tone, and as such will turn off some people, but overall, I enjoyed the spirit of the film.

reply

Would you know if they are doing any premiers in Nor Cal?

reply

I really can't speak for the production, but I would assume they definitely will given the location of the movie. Maybe they'll get a good distributor at Sundance, and it'll be everywhere. :)

who are you exactly?

reply

Is it going to be R-rated?

reply

Just saw it last night at the premier. Loved it. The scenery was unreal. And I really liked how the narration was done. Kind of a sad movie though.

I heard Kate Bosworth gave one of her best performances albeit understated of her career. What is your take?

reply

While we where on set and watched. She was so into her part it was like she stepped back in time. They all did a fantastic job.

reply

I'm a huge Kate fan and glad that she found love on the set. Just worried about her weight. Saw her recent interview for Vanity Fair and she was almost skin and bones. Is she on a crash diet for a movie or marriage......

reply

I saw her a week ago with Michael Polish. She's still beautiful and healthy thin. She's a fairly intelligent person from the insight I overheard her say about the film.

reply

I'm so envious. I wish though Kate tries her luck on TV just like Claire Danes. She's at a age to take on more challenging work imho. But I won't be surprised if she takes a year or two off to enjoy marriage life.

Did they have scenes with the Son and daughters in it? Seth is Neals son in the file. I am dieing to see it.

reply

Yeah, two scenes. They are both very brief though.

reply

My son is Elliott in the movie, Kate Bosworth's son. Saw the movie twice at Sundance. yes, there are a few scenes with a little blonde boy (adorable) and two girls. They are brief but you can still see them. As a parent, I know how exciting it is. Hauntingly beautiful scenery, wonderfully acted. It's a niche film for sure, but will find it's audience.

I know it's been a while since this movie was on Sundance and that you guys talked about it, it's just it seems it'll finally be on theaters on Nov 1st and it got me wondering how Stana Katic was on it. It seems like she has a really small part in the story as Lenore Kandel. :(

reply

I believe it's currently playing on VOD and will have a limited release November 1. I have Dish and sadly it's not playing on Dish VOD.

reply

It's currently on Comcast On Demand...got to watch it twice, as it's a two-day rental for ten bucks. Worth every penny!

Completely bowled over by "Big Sur". Brilliantly captures the atmosphere of the book, and the casting was superb. Great cinematography and loved the music...I hope they release the soundtrack!

reply

I recently saw this movie at the carmel art and film festival today and I liked it very much! Kate Bosworth and Michael Polish were there to take a Q&A after which was nice of them to do. The music, the environments and the characters were phenomenal.

reply

Ahhhh - I'm so envious! Wish I could have been there. Was it well received?

reply

yes it was well received.
