Ben should have died? Spoilers

Killing the queen kills all things with alien DNA.
Shouldn't Ben have died, it was suggested that the spikes had merged with his DNA (at least as long as they are connected to his spine.
Alternatively, the spikes should have disintegrated like the hornets when the queen died as they are alien bio-organic material- but his spikes are still sticking out and visible as usual in Ben's neck when Tom is giving his finale speech

What do you think?

Ben should have died as he was part alien with some alien DNA still fused to his system improperly removed nor cleared by volm technology prior to Queens death....

or the spikes should have at least disintegrated?

I agree. They should have AT LEAST disintegrated. When Ben was with Tom at the queen's lair I was expecting him to die. The look on Tom's face would have fit.

I think those were just very bad scars at the end. The way his skin had changed around the spikes would most likely have left thick, raised scar tissue and I don't see him voluntarily going under the knife to remove the worst of it. The spikes disintegrating wouldn't have killed him; the kids that died from removing them were being unharnessed without Volm tech. For Ben even ripping one out with pliers didn't kill him; natural disintegration probably wouldn't have even been painful.
