A movie that your kids and you must see

When I heard about the Movie, We watched as a family and every one liked it. It is very emotional but also teaches very Good Habits of letter writing, Caring, how kids help and treat each other, how to deal with issues and effects of War on families and their life and how society deals with people who are affected and how a single persons attitude can make a difference in the world. It is more in the lines of Pay it Forward and difficult to not talk about how good movie it is after watching it. It uses a particular church and set of families as an example and USPS organization and Disney as some of the examples but it can be applied to any religion, family, country ,age, gender, young or old.
If you didn't watch it, you are missing some big part of your life like those who have not experienced love or love of God are missing something.

I have not experienced "love of god" and I know you think I'm missing something, but I'm fairly certain that I'm not missing anything.

reply

Because you don't know what you are missing until you find it.

Well I've looked and looked, and finally gave up because there was nothing to be found in one religion that couldn't be found in another, which made me realize that it's not something external you can find, its a peace you find on the inside when, well for religious people, you find and have god there, and for me, the peace of knowing I don't need any gods to have a peace with myself and love life and live it fully.

My review:

The message of this moving film trumps its over-reliance on sap, its overuse of cheese and its limited production values. What amounts to unrealistic character development is used to tell the true tale of a family and a young man struggling to battle cancer and struggling to comprehend God’s role in their lives. The overall message of “finding truth” and illustrating how each of our lives can be a testament (or letter) itself to God is a great analogy. If viewed with an open mind and a hopeful heart, this movie will make you think and will move you to tears. I wish the creators of the film had taken a more realistic approach and used less pure sap to establish the story. I have a feeling that the “golly gee” or “Leave It To Beaver” level of writing will turn some people off. I know they wanted to pay tribute to a brave and courageous soul by portraying him as a pure saint on earth but the story would’ve packed even more punch had they chosen to go a more level route. Still, the message is strong and the story very moving.

I praised the film on other movie sites because it flat out deserves it.

I haven't seen this movie, but I don't understand why you would want children to watch a movie in which they lose all hope of living because a deity could take away their lives in a terribly painful way at anytime??? A child watching a child die?? Why??

The film's message is top notch even if its execution isn't big budget quality.

No, thank you, I prefer knowing the truth than seeking comfort in some invisible figure. It surely works for some, but it's a lie all the same..

Instead of forcing my religion on my kid, I instead show him all 2000 religions, and let him choose. Unless you think Christianity is the one true religion, simply because you were born in a Christian family by chance?

reply

Indoctrination much? Get them while they are young and stupid to set in place the foundations that will make them old and stupid

So christians are stupid? I see your indoctrination went off without a hitch. lol.
