Tried to see this yesterday - found a dead guy in the theater instead.

Yep, Not sure how long he had been there, but we found a dead guy in the third row, slumped over in his chair. Needless to say, the movie was cancelled. Anyway, just thought I would share. It's not every day you find a dead guy a the movies.

did you poke him?

My girlfriend knew as soon as we walked into the theater that something was wrong (she was an ER nurse for 10 years). We grabbed our seats and then she went down to check on him. As soon as she looked at him, she knew he was dead. Went and got the manager, who then called 911.

reply

I am surprised your girlfriend did that because I see people in the movie theater, but I do not bother them at all unless I happen to know them and then I will start to talk to them though.

I actually was a bit embarrassed when she went down to check on him. I thought he was sleeping and she was over reacting. I tried to tell her to wait until the movie started because I was sure he would 'wake up'. I won't doubt her again. :)

reply

That is sad to hear that He passed away. Possibly the film was that bad that he could not stand watching it and it caused him to pass away? Who knows.

I wish someone would just punch you in the face really really hard. There is something seriously wrong with you.

Why would anyone want to punch me into the face when I am a normal person? It seems as if something is wrong with you if you suggest that someone punch me in the face. It sounds like you may need Anger Management classes or something like that to calm you down.

I was just making a theory there and possibly the person could have had a stroke or heart attack in the movie theater and that is why they found him like that.

It is bad taste to make fun of the dead person.

Look I was not making fun of a dead person in this topic here. All I was merely saying was possibly the movie was not satisfying to his taste and that might have caused him to have a health related issue. Nothing wrong with that is there? Plus, when the movie was showing he could have had what ever that killed him act up on him and he could not seek the help that he needed to remain alive.

What a bunch of drama queens and self-righteous a-holes.

I had a dozen dead guy jokes. Guess what kids... you will ALL DIE. IT is a universal human experience, so get over it.

As for making jokes, WHO CARES. Personally I joke about death. I laugh in it's face. And one day, death will win. DEAL WITH IT.

What was the movie previous that the guy died during? Sudden Death?

yea - some people are sensitive and jump to conclusions. I wasn't offended by your comment.

reply

That is good that you were not offended by my comment. You have to realize that after "Politically Correctness" was adopted in the United States it has helped in some ways, but effected things the wrong way. Plus, it has made too touchy freely anymore.

I finished my first script called "THE POSSESSION OF INNOCENCE". I am trying to raise the money to get this project going. I have set it up where you may donate a $1 on up to $100. I thank you for the help!

your woman deserves a medal.
not many people care enough to get involved.
and if were any of us, we would want someone to find us and notify the authorities instead of just sitting there dead in a theater.

reply

She should have tried cpr, he probably just got there a few minutes before you guys, since they workers empty the theater prior to letting people in.
I know you probably don't like the idea of your GF doing that to a stranger, but it's kind of cold for a nurse to say, "he's dead, lets tell the manager" and not try to revive him.
For your sake I hope she would act differently if she found you slumped over like that.

reply

malefic99 - I'm not sure why you would assume she did nothing and just let the man die. She has been a nurse for almost 20 years, she knows exactly what to do in these types of situations.

First, she was the only one in a room full of people that cared enough to even check on the man. She knew immediately that something was wrong. In fact, I told her to wait for the movie to start before going down to the front row to check on him. I assumed he was sleeping and would wake up once the trailers started, but she said no.

Second, she immediately notified a employee and called 911.

Third, as she moved the body to the floor with the assistance of a theatre worker, she could tell that the man had been dead for more than a few minutes. She relayed this information to 911 and told them that he was beyond CPR. Even the paramedics did nothing when they arrived.

It was more than likely he died during the previous showing of the film and the cleaning crew missed him. You're talking about teenagers who go in and pick garbage up off the floor. They probably didn't even bother going to the first few rows since the film didn't sell out. Need I remind you of the story of the man who sat dead in a movie theatre bathroom for days before he was found?

And why would I care if my GF gives CPR to a stranger? She's a nurse, I would expect that of her. In fact, I asked her after we left the theatre why no one tried to revive him and she told me it was because they could tell he was already dead and there was no coming back.

reply

thanks for explaining it more, if your first couple posts it sounded like she just looked at him and said, what I said.

sorry to judge, I feel bad now.

reply

No worries. Like I said, even I asked her why she didn't perform CPR. I felt bad for the guy and wished someone had found him sooner, but most people don't even notice things like that. In fact, even after my GF checked him, after the manager came in, and after the body was moved, most people in the audience still didn't know anything was going on. Finally, when the manager announced that the movie was cancelled, the people behind me said 'Why?'. I turned to them and replied 'because there is a dead guy down there'. They had no idea.

reply

That's a rather personal question... What he does in his spare time in NONE of our business!

I have over 4000 films, many of them very rare and OOP. I LOVE to trade. PLEASE ASK!

reply

Not sure if he was there for the previous showing or not. I kind of hope he at least got to see the movie before he died.

reply

Sad the last person he or she saw was Daniel Craig lol

reply

I would be a happy camper if this fine man would be the last thing I saw....

reply

That's awful! Which theatre was this in, what state?

reply

Cinemark Merriam in Kansas.

reply

Seriously? Dang, I'm in Topeka.

That's something you really don't want to have happen to you on a movie night. Poor guy. :(

You had a scarier, far more satisfying horror movie experience than if you had seen the actual movie...

reply

WOW! That had to be shocking to see that happen. I am surprised you did not go to another movie theater to watch this film. I am sure there is more than one movie theater where you live at.

The theater actually gave us a rain check to see the movie again (we went the next day) and said we could just go see any other movie that was about to start. But by the time we were done talking to the police, we just decided to go home.

reply

That is cool that they gave you a rain check to come back again to see a movie. I am sure you both were not too happy on what happened though.

Sad. At a movie alone.... and just died there....... :-(
Your girlfriend is so great for checking on him.
Take her out to a nice dinner!

reply

I was at a showing of "Falling Down" starring Michael Douglas once with a GF and just as the movie was starting the ceiling fell down.

Turns out that a large amount of water from a recent rain storm had pooled on the roof and leaked into the building. I guess the ceiling held it as long as it could and then boom!

We weren't hit but a big chunk of it, and a lot of water after that, landed on two women about five rows in front of us (the theatre was almost empty)and they were both seriously injured, one of them was still unconcious when we left because that movie was cancelled too. Never heard what happened to them. Have always hoped that they were ok.

Saw the movie later on cable and turns out we didn't miss much.

Your girl friend is a good person for caring enough to check on the guy, the previous poster is right, take her out to dinner.

reply

Actually, now that I think about it your girl friend should have waited until after the movie was over to tell someone, then at least you would have gotten to watch the movie.

It's not like the guy was going anywhere...

reply

Reminds me of a story where a guy was dead for 5 days at his office at work before anybody paid him any attention or noticed or anything. People just thought he was a hard worker and left him alone. I really hate it nowadays where it's considered strange to go up and just "bother" somebody. Can't introduce yourself or say hi without people thinking you're weird.
