Final Episode - what happened? (spoilers)

Word of advice: they still have it up on ITV player. But if you'd rather readv about it, this is essentially what happened, in a nutshell.

- Charles Henry Wickenham killed both girls.
- The first one to die enquired to him about becoming a PA.
- The second died because she and his son's wife knew each other and shared a lift home, during which time he interrogated her about the Dahlia's murder.
- He was obsessed with the Black Dahlia because the killer was never caught and, just like him, Charles wanted to commit murder and get away with it.
- Charles's ex-wife, Dominique, used to be a prostitute.
- The wife of Charles's son, Edward, was the one who made the anonymous call claiming that she knew who the killer was, because she shared that car with Charles and the second girl and overheard what they were talking about.
- On slightly unrelated notes, you also found out that Charles had raped Emily and possibly Justine. He impregnated Emily and aborted the baby for her.
- Dominique and Edward (who was her stepson) slept together.
- Edward told the officers that Charles had messed with his first wife's mind until she killed herself, and he'd psychologically abused him, too.
- That was during some bizarre sex party. Justine was also present at this party, but this doesn't seem to be very important in the long run.
- They had enough evidence to arrest Charles. So they went to his house and handcuffed him while they searched the house.
- Mrs. Hedges (the housekeeper) told the police officers about how much she loved Emily and she knew about Charles's abuse but couldn't stop it.
- They found a secret tunnel/torture chamber where he had kept both victims.
- Most of the police officers left to investigate that.
- One police officer was left watching Charles.
- Charles was eating his lunch at this point. When he finished, he asked the officer to come over and smashed him over the head with the tray and then with a conveniently-placed baseball bat.
- He ran away.
- They couldn't find him. They had no idea how he could have left the grounds when there were police everywhere.
- Throughout this sequence, you see Mrs. Hedges (the housekeeper) in her bedroom, rocking and rocking in a chair.
- Finally, they deduced that he must be still inside the house.
- They returned to the house to find Emily and Justine living there with Mrs. Hedges. It is shown that Emily and Justine and Mrs. Hedges are extremely close.
- They search Mrs. Hedges' room. Travis finds that there is an air vent in the floor just by her chair. This means there must be some kind of hiding-space under the floorboards.
- Travis pries up the floorboards and finds Charles's body. He has suffocated.
- Travis and Langton talk about it. They agree that Mrs. Hedges had to have closed up the air vents and listened to him struggle for his life. Therefore, she killed him. They agree to keep it a secret, saying "I can live with it" and "the girls need her." Travis then kisses Langton and walks away.

That's pretty much it!

This will all make sense in the end.
