That when they found his body under the floorboards, I think they said it had been about a week. A rotting corpse would be 'on the nose' and none of the detectives (or even his daughters) smelled any odour at all. Did they all have colds?!?!

I've read the book, but that was awhile ago. I think the 'vent' was much more difficult to find, and was carefully designed to look natural, not a brass slider, which, given the original purpose of the spot, wouldn't have fooled anybody.
Thanks for the reply, but as it's almost a year later, I would have to go back and rewatch that scene. I do remember however that this whole movie received a terrible review regarding a few inconsistencies as well as a terrible script!

When suspect was in the kitchen(?), in handcuffs, looking at one guy in the CSI suit, i thought he may have done him in, and changed clothes,,
