What was her husband eating before he...*spoilers*?

She bought something for him at a food stand I think...it looked like a small roll but what exactly is it called? And is there an American equivalent? It was right before the fight scene where he revealed himself as the son of the guy they killed in the beginning of the movie before he changed his face

Better post a spoiler alert in the title. I think it was a spring roll; when he was running errands as a courier, she saw him buy one. He appears to be fond of them.

I updated the title and removed the actual spoilers.

Can anyone that actually understands Chinese confirm?

Anyway, are spring rolls usually chewy? It looked like he had to really bite into it to tear a piece off.

It depends on the type.

I'm from Asia (but not China) and I've eaten different types; I know some of the fried ones get kinda "chewy" (they lose their crispness/crunchiness) if you let them sit out too long and get cold. You can get them at any Asian restaurant.

It's called Doupi. Its wrapper is some kind of tofu (or bean product).

Thank you guys

It is a film/membrane made from soy made by heating soy milk slowly until a skin is formed, much like what happens when warm milk is left to cool. The skin is lifted out and dried into sheets. This can then be used as a wrapper for vegetables, herbs/spices, meats, etc. Turquoise had mocked him in front of her by saying that she followed him for 3 days and saw that he couldn't even afford to buy a wrap to eat.
