Misty Mundae, R.I.P.

One of the oddest careera in modern film history has to be that of one Erin Brown AKA Misty Mundae. Beginning in 1998 she had a meteoric (publicity wise) success marketed and exploited as an underage-looking soft porn star, also dabbling in hardcore porn at the borderline, in dozens of New Jersey made lesbian and fantasy videos of the no-budget variety. Now in her thirties, with that freshness and bloom of youth long gone, she moves from 3rd rate horror as the second phase of her career to a regular gig on this cable series, where she is probably the least attractive, and certainly least appreciated, cast member.

Yes, Hollywood, in its entire continuum encompassing both mainstream & porn, is voracious in eating up and literally consuming talent. Misty or Erin is just another victim, and quantitatively I advise anyone interested in the downside of the Dream Factory to just check (as I'm currently doing) the failure rate on the recent darling ghetto of the industry: the "indie" productions. My in-progress study indicates that from the mid-1990s to date 95% of the indie films (and borderline videos) made never get a theatrical distribution, and a large percentage (to be determined) never get any release at all, including all forms of video & tv. I was shocked to discover that over one-third of the English-language indies made in 2000 were directed by first-time directors who have never got a second chance to make a movie (or feature-length video) in the 10 years that followed! They don't tell you about that when promoting the Sundance Film Festival or the Independent Film Channel -everything is rosy!

I think a big part of the failure rate of these films is attributable to the sexist MPAA. The MPAA allows full MALE genitalia (pubic hair, penis, and testicles) to be shown and passed with an R-rating, but they don't allow full FEMALE genitalia (pubic hair, labia, and anus) to be passed with an R-rating. Films that show full female genitalia are typically rated "NC-17". This is an unfair and sexist double-standard. Most theater chains and distribution networks won't carry NC-17 rated films. Thus, these movies can't get wide distribution so they fail to recover their production costs.

This is all the fault of the MPAA.Somebody needs to file a class-action LAWSUIT AGAINST THE MPAA. They must be legally compelled to make their ratings policies transparent, clear, objective, and fair. Showing genitalia should get the same movie rating regardless of the gender.

Just watched a few episodes. She is WAY too good an actress for Cinemax late night soft porn. I grew up on this stuff, watching Sherman Oaks and Joe Bob Briggs and Full Front Comedy and the parade of cheap movies and frankly, while its good spank material for a 15 year old boy with 28.8 internet, it was never quality entertainment.

Misty has a little bit of talent and I always liked her more in those Seduction Cinema/Factory 2000 films where it looks like she was being herself and at least having some fun.

But this show manages to somehow make her look bored and overworked and longing for something else.

Was she desperate for work, or did she honestly think this would be a good show?
