European Remake

The same French company that produced Love Crime produced an English language version called Passion in an obvious effort to make $. I could care less but I'm sure the Europeans who are so outraged about remakes will want to know so they can fill this thread with angry denunciations like they do on every remake thread.

"Budgeted at about $30 million, according to Ben Said, “Passion” will be structured as a France-Germany-U.K.-Spain co-production, partly financed by a combination of co-production coin from European partners, subsidies, tax coin and French TV money."

I kinda like the idea of Euro-english remakes. They can still control the atmostphere of the film without having to complain about ¨americanizing¨ it.

The films where okay but I would pick De Palma's version. The original was okay but very sterile and mundanely shot and not as visually interesting or erotic as the De Palma version. I thought the split screen, the masks and the nightmare within a dream sequences where a nice touch. The only thing I liked about LC was KST, I really didn't care much for Ludvine Saignier as Isabelle.

All these 'critics' who lambast remakes and champion the originals are pretentious snobs. I agree that some remakes are pointless but some actually better than the originals but some of these pretentious wind bags can never admit to that-if it has subtitles its automatically superior.

If 'Love Crime' was an American film, it would have been pissed, calling BS on all the plot holes in it.

Careful, Duchess, to some degree you're talking into a mirror. The people you're lambasting have an agenda to their comments, sure, but so clearly do you.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
