Their families

Anyone else thought it was weird that they were so chill about finding their houses empty? If I were to come from a camping trip and find absolutely no one at home, I sure would not be as calm as they were. They instantly started making plans without showing much emotion - the tears only seemed to be shed by the end of the movie. It's just a strange thing I noticed. Or did I miss something?

I haven't read the book/s (?), I only found out that the movie is based on them after watching it.

As someone who grew up on a farm in Australia it is often your folks will be out whether into town or a paddock, it is when Ellies dog was dead, no phone signal and then when they went to another farm Lee clicked something is really not right.

Keep in mind the only actualised invasion scenario for Australia was World War 2 especially after Darwin was bombed, this is modern Australia where the average teen is interested in exploring their sexuality, having fun, hating their parents, video games, camping, getting drunk etc.

Also I think with factoring in the above people were too overwhealmed with such a far out concept they didn't have a chance to stop and think what the hell is going on.
