Where were the allied nations?

I know, I know short story made into short film but where were all the supposed allied nations?

America is always promoted as a "strong ally" of Australia but howcome they did not come to help rid us of the invaders when we time after time suck their tits to join their wars?

Ask the author of the books, he's Australian. That's one of the most implausible things in a movie riddled with *beep* Australia is on good terms with everyone. If an Asian country dared to invade Australia, the US,UK and pretty much everyone else would crush the invasion within a week.

That is or isn't a plot point. If what you proposed happened then this story and the follow on stories are made null and void. So you either have to accept that for some unexplained reason they decide not to help (alternate universe maybe); or you watch a near two hour film of ye ha the yanks have saved us (as in 90% of other films) *beep* (nothing against Americans). Which is not what was intended. It is a story about now this small group goes from being an irritation to the invaders to major wanted criminals because of what they do in the following months.
Some stories mean you just have to suspend this reality for that in which the story is set and just accept and carry on. It isn't a documentary after all.

reply

But they're not criminals. They are heros. The invaders are the criminals

Short story? What...

R.I.P. Southland 2009-2013.

There are references to New Zealand troops. The USA presumably declined to assist - a likely scenario under either President Obama (who declined to assist Ukraine despite a treaty guarantee of security) or President Trump (who wants the USA to withdraw from NATO).
