Language, and Dubbing

Why do Chinese movies still do this? They're speaking Mandarin in the film, mostly, yet the actors are really speaking something else (Canto?) as can be seen with the mouth movements. And when the Chinese actors speak Japanese, its so obvious that's Dubbed as well.

If you need a Mando actor/actress, hire one. Yes, I know these are big name actors but can you really be that superficial? There's no authenticity. And the overacting............its 2011. Feels like im watching Disney Channel acting.

This a reason why Chinese films arent taken seriously compared to other films.

Btw, I am Chinese and I do enjoy a couple Chinese films. (Hero, House of Flying Daggers, Infernal Affairs, Ip Man)

Bullet train analogy. They favor speed over safety.

Movies. They favor style (ie flashy moves and big celebs) over substance/quality.

Unfortunately, I cannot reply to your question, because I am not Chinese. But since you are, you can certainly reply to the mine:

S P O I L E R S

Fang Qing (Qi Shu) originally appears as Chinese and then they say she is Japanese actually. But Chinese do not look like Japanese, do they? So how people in Shanghai could possibly believe she is Chinese, if she were Japanese?

Thank you.
