Green Hornet

I keep thinking this is a green hornet poster lmao

reply

YEA! When I saw the poster I was like "Dude! Kato is getting his own movie" then when I read what the movie really was I was pissed. Hope they get sued for the costume rip off.

reply

I think you guys should first watch a movie before saying crap like that, in the movie, it is clearly informed that the costume in the store was of the green hornet, so that Donnie yen stole the green hornet's costume & wore it.

reply

The movie was set in 1925, the green hornet wasn't introduced until 1936

reply

It was "Black Mask" not the "Green Hornet". Anyway it would have been Kato's not the Green Hornet's costume. I think you guy should learn more about Chinese heroes before writing crap like that

reply

till now i thought kato really got his own movie, the looks no1., the action no.2
so ya made sense....didnt know this was something on its own...sad for kato...

reply

It looks more like a mix of Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury, and Jet Li's Fist of Legend and Black Mask.

I'd have been more impressed if this was Donnie's own take on the story and character.

Damn, that would be awesome if Kato got his own movie and Donnie Yen played Kato.

This is the closest thing to a Kato movie without actually paying for the official right to use Greent Hornet characters.

What's interesting is that the same director, Wai-keung Lau, made a film called "Kuen Sun (2001)" that was based on Tekken without the licensing agreement from Namco.

I think it's more like, after Ip Man 2 (where the white guy is all biggot like towards Chinese people). I see Donnie is trying to take all the great action scenes Jet Li did and re-do them his way.

In Ip Man 2, he totally copied the coreography, the pacing...well...it looked like the same exact fight as the white guy from Fearless.

Blackmask was Jet Li, Donnie takes that now.

So was Chen Zhen.

Like he's trying to erase what Jet was known for. Or do it over or something.

Or, he's continuing the characters and keeping a tradition going. Multiple actors have played lots of roles in US films. Even characters like Jack Ryan, let alone Sherlock Holmes and the like. They're building a cinematic mythos around recurring characters in order to generate bankable brands.

I don't get why it is that when the Chinese do what Americans have been doing, it's suddenly wrong.
