almost as good as Slapshot but 3 problems:

I was pleasantly surprised. This is almost as good a Slapshot; however ...

Jay Baruchel may be a good writer, but he's just an annoying, obnoxious little prick who should not be recorded on camera.

Seriously, I know it is a comedy but it was beyond belief that even a simpleton like Glatt would go gaga over Alison Pill. It is believable that she'd sleep around. How else would she get a guy?

reply

Pill as the love interest was, of course, brilliant. What would have been totally unbelievable was if a Victoria Secret model was cast as a smoke show who wanted to hook up with a virtually-unknown and dumb minor-league hockey goon. Pill is cute. Gorgeous gets a good-looking multi-millionaire Syd Crosby, cute gets a good-looking broke dummy Doug Glatt.

The problem is that Glatt would go ga-ga over her when he isn't even drunk.
Pill was right for the part. Loser guy gets loser girl. Check. The script was ridiculous though. I guess you could say Glatt had taken too many shots to the head & couldn't see Pill clearly. Is that it?

WTF was up with that? E. Levy has had some great roles. He should have passed on this one.
