Is 1 eggroll really enough to eat, for lunch?

That's the question I have right now, after watching the movie.

Those things looked like they were the size of a small frozen burrito...so, yeah.

That was one huge ass egg roll. Do they really have those in new york? Never seen anything like it here in SoCal and I'm part chinese.

reply

I've lived in Brooklyn all my life, and I've never seen such an eggroll. Maybe I'm ordering from the wrong places...

reply

Yeah, one eggroll's not too much, but then again, some have meat/chicken in them, so all in all, you won't be that hungry after eating only one.

The scene in the Chinese take-out was obviously to show that he could speak Chinese (in this case Cantonese)but the script writers could have been more creative including ordering an egg-roll, like fried noodles to go with it and a drink. Also, to show the Chinese owners to be abusive and swearing at customers for no apparent reason is bad taste.

Also, how did he know that the Chinese family in the train spoke Cantonese (national language in Hongkong and spoken in part of mainland China near HK)). They may be Mandarin speakers (in mainland China it is the national language) though Cantonese is also widely spoken in America and some Cantonese speakers may also understand Mandarin.

You would think these highly paid script-writers and directors would have been more creative.

reply

There's a lot of crossover between Mandarin and Cantonese, and many Chinese people speak both or a mixture of the two.

I'm just surprised he knew the family were Chinese as Sean didn't here them speak, unlike the takeaway workers.

reply

Bwahahahahaha!! That's too funny! But yeah, those looked more like burritos to me.
