OK for teenagers?

My niece is 14, and studying French in High School, and I want to take her to a French movie. Most of the ones I've seen are fairly adult, but this one looks like it might be OK. Anyone who has seen it care to comment?

I think so, but I would say I am fairly permissive. It is adult subject matter, dealing with abuse, but it is not really graphic save for one very violent scene of a woman defending her honor, righteously and non-lethally but with with a pitchfork that is pretty hard to take actually. It gives me the creeps to think about it and I saw it last night. You see this stuff and worse in most movies on TV, but it is sanitized and almost done like a modelling layout, but this graphic, but thankfully short. I would say this is the one really questionable scene, but it established the abusive and insane part of the mother's character. Maybe, maybe not .. I would not even say it is OK for adults .. he more I think about it the more I lean toward no - but it is just a movie???

There is one brief scene of violence. The guilty party is able to walk away, in fact hobble away quickly. The woman defending herself gets off with an informal verbal warning.

This is no excuse not to see the movie unless your pre school and should be watching teletubbies.

A wonderful film for just about all ages which comments at times bitterly, but usually sweetly, on a variety of themes such as family, friendship, life, love, learning, literature, old age, social welfare and alienation.

My one gripe concerns yet again, another incarnation of the stereotypical teacher bully we see in too many films.

The one scene with a pitchfork is violent, but the mother was defending her self and her child, somewhat. The mother and child relationship is strained, to say the least, and that may be disturbing to a child. Also some mild sexual situations between Germaine and his girlfriend, but nothing sexual is shown on screen. I think this movie would be ok for a mature teen.

Three years late for advice but I want to add this is as close to a "G" movie as you are going to get today with adults in it not made by some conservative organization. The pitchfork seem is shocking but not graphic at all. One just sees a little blood on the man's legs after the woman has jabbed him.
