Savannah induced on her EDD?

Please tell me I herd her wrong.

I can't remember - what's EDD referring to?

ETA - Expected Date of Delivery ... I thought that was what she said and was very surprised. I would think that unless her or her baby's life were in danger, they would give her a little more time. Maybe the doctor was going to be taking a vacation and wanted to get the delivery out of his/her way. (Seriously, that's a disturbing thought and hope it isn't the case).

I haven't seen the episode yet, but it's possible she had something going on that would make them induce on her due date. A friend of mine just had her fourth yesterday. She was induced on her due date because her blood pressure was starting to creep up and I don't think her doctor wanted to wait for an emergency.

I was induced a couple days after my due date because I was so very miserable and was showing zero signs of labor. I had pupps, and was itching so badly I was scratching myself raw. It was awful. The induction failed, and I ended up with a c section several days later after I didn't go into labor on my own and a second induction failed to produce a baby also.

Anyway, it could have been something like that. Not life threatening, but not something so trivial as vacation plans.

My mother was due in late December/early January and her mom was the last mom in late pregnancy the ob had left before Christmas and he induced my grandmother on like Dec 10th. It almost killed my mom & grandmother cause he wanted an uninterrupted Christmas season. Backfired on him tho cause the complications meant he couldn't leave town anyways.

EDD is expected due date.

I guess I'm the only one who didn't find that strange. I was induced a week before my due date and had a very smooth labor My cousin was induced a week after her due date and had a very rough time with hers.

Unless there was a medical reason for it, that's just wrong. With my second, my OB wanted to induce me a week early because he was going out of town. Really!? He's going to risk my baby's life so he can get paid before leaving!? I said no way! Due dates can be off by weeks, so unless there is a medical reasons, it just shouldn't happen. I hear about women asking to be induced early just because they are uncomfortable or want to not be pregnant during a holiday. That is so irresponsible. Hope that wasn't the case for her.

They why I was so surprised. Usually if there is a medical problem the show touches on it.

It's definitely unusual in the UK. I have two children, the first went overdue, so I was induced at 11 days late. He arrived 38 hours later. I went a week over with my second, but was in slow labour and 1cm dilated for 10 days prior. It's standard here to let a woman go roughly two weeks over, unless there are health reasons indicating early induction are necessary.
