Question

I have a question about this film. It's just for those who have watched it since it contains a big spoiler. So here it goes:

Was it Ferriol the one who killed Dionís and his son?? Pauleta implied it when she went to offer her 'condolences' and Florència didn't deny it in front of Andreu. Was it Ferriol the hooded man at the beginning, then?? The person who watched the film with me doesn't think so and now I don't know if I understood it wrong.

reply

yes, it was him. Farriol did it for money. He was unemployed and marked in the village as republican (meaning a communist, a RED). So he needed money and he knew lots of things about the Manubens family, so they paid him to keep him quiet, although, later on they did not help him out...

Anyway, it is only implied, not very clear... XD

reply

I think that's a mistake of the film not of the viewer to be honest.

It is a bit unclear in what it's saying and doing at times. Evidently from this post and a few others reviews, I'm not the only one who thinks so.

I'm currently studying this film in my Spanish course so I'll be very interested to see what others thought of it.

I do think it's good (shot beautifully and technically strong) but the plot, script and direction, I felt, could have been a bit better.

reply

Yes, Farriol did it for the Manubens, as Didios (?) had evidence about what happened in the cave at the Manubens' request.

The most shocking thing to me was the business with the horse at the start. I'm old and have seen a lot, but that took me by surprise.

reply

I was also shocked by the scene with the horse....

reply

I think it must be just you and me then felicity.

reply

Oh, I'm pretty sure it shocked a lot of people. It was too realistic :)

reply

I hope so. It was just that, until you, no-one commented on it for 2 years!
