Damage costs

If this movie were accurate and the debris field ended up consuming/destroying all the equipment in earths orbit, what would be the total cost of the damage including replacing it all?

The damage costs would not consist of just the replacement costs of the destroyed equipment and the costs of the economical losses (of companies etc. that relied on the proper working of communication satellites etc.), but also include the costs of cleaning up all the debris so that new equipment wouldn't run the risk of being destroyed too. Since there's (as far as I know) currently no practical solution for the problem of cleaning up space debris, I'd say the damage costs are "insurmountable" (or "infinite").
