Just like the average civilian in a panic. Anyone can go through hours of training, but to act all alone it's a hail Mary. She was a biomedical engineer, not a systems engineer, pilot or an astronaut. When panic sets in, without years of experience in tough situations and already previous trauma and fear, of course, you're going to appear clueless and psychologically damaged.
