No one watches zombie movies...

in zombie movies.

I know this is nitpicking, but doesn't it bother anyone else when the characters in movies see another person running at them (or stumbling) while covered in blood and screaming that it just might be a zombie? I know these aren't REAL zombies, but the question remains. I figure that by now everyone is aware of what a zombie is and that whether it's an infection or supernatural source, it's probably contagious through biting. But again, we see in this movie people are like, "Oh, Joe! What's wrong, mate? Let's have a hug to clean up all that blood dripping from your mouth!" Of course, not literally.

All I know is that if I saw any family member or friend uncharacteristically running at me with blood spattered all over them and howling, my first instinct would be, stay the fark away from the teeth.

P.S. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Resident Evil (be it game or movie) as providing material for this movie's story. You know, heartless corporation making a super drug that turns people into zombies, etc. I still had fun watching it.

It's a decision the film makers need to make these days. Do there characters live in the same world we do? The idea of zombies pretty much permeates our culture. There are few grandmothers around who wouldn't recognize a zombie attack. But characters, like you mention, should act different in that reality. Face it, it's already a slightly different world because zombies don't and can't exist.

It would be an interesting take on the genre, though. If characters had seen all the movies we have they would already have a plan in the back of their mind... well at least I do. Same problem exists for vampires or other movie canards. But writers don't have a problem with characters being aware of the concept of vampires usually. That said, one of the many things I yelled at my screen while watching Twilight was "How the hell can they not tell these people are wampires?". Honestly.

You live in your world, I'll live in mine, buddy. They may not exist now, but you just wait and see. ;P

THANK YOU, Holeray. I have noticed the same $#@#% thing Now compare this to any vampire movie, where EVERYONE has seen vampire movies!!! E.g., 30 Days of Night "...Just cause it worked it on Bela Lugosi doesn't mean it'll work on these..." Or the whole debate in From Dusk till Dawn. While we're at it it, I am still waiting (seriously) for someone/anyone on "The Walking Dead" to say, "Excuse me, the term is zombie..."

It's like the scene in Shaun of the Dead (*spoilers*) where Simon Pegg has to make the decision to shoot his mother because she was bitten by a zombie. It's the shock of knowing that that his mom turned into those "things" and I feel that that keeps the guard down on people. I agree, it's stupid to see people stand around while a random zombie is running at them but at the same time I can also feel for the people that are looking at someone they love as a zombie coming at them. It's the sense of shock. The "I can't believe it" moments.

well i dont know, mate. people might act differently.

if i see my gf like that, hell i might go jump and fight all zombies around to save her, and i will go to whatever part of the earth to find the cure, and ofcourse, first of all i would grab her, ask her what happened to her, and clean her. so.. yeah
