I love a good historical drama. I seem to be running out of them. Broke down and watched "The White Queen" even though it had the witchcraft nonsense in it. But I'm trying to watch this on Youtube and 20 minutes into the first episode and this is absolute crap. Is it the YT quality? I've never seen anything jump and skip around scenes so badly and quickly before and I actually stomached my way all the way through "Cloud Atlas". Except for the first scene I have no idea what's going on. And is Rufus Sewell with that old hag? She looks old enough to be his grandmother and she's pregnant.

I've just watched part 6, and I think it's gotten sillier as it goes. This tv adaptation doesn't make me want to read the book. You're right: the storytelling is rushed and confusing, with lapses in logic. I think the adapters/writer(s) just bit off more than they could chew, or afford to film.

It's been pure cheese from the beginning, and I've begun refusing to invest my emotions in who gets killed or has something bad done to them. When the (SPOILER -- though not much of one) cathedral roof collapsed and didn't kill any major baddies, all of whom were standing under it, I just threw up my hands.

I was very disappointed with the series. It had so much going for it! Including a couple of my favourite actors.

If you are interested in reading the book at all, do it. It's honestly one of my favourites of all time.
