Supposed to live in Ohio

I saw that a license plate was from Ohio, are they supposed to live in Ohio?
That's weird because I have never seen them wear so much as a coat.

I think so. It's not just the license plates that say Ohio, their fake IDs were for the state of Ohio too. But other than that, nothing about this show looks like it takes place in Ohio.

"It's around 4 o'clock. We've been here since 12 o'clock. Five hours is like enough."

The show is filmed in LA, so it's no surprise that it looks like Southern California. I had no idea the setting was supposed to be Ohio though, I just assumed it was meant to take place in SoCal.

Wonder why they even chose random Ohio anyway....??

Part of Ohio around Lima and Mansfield is one of the areas thought to have a flat American accent, maybe that's the reason. You can see the map of dialects of American English here:

I live not far from there-in Ky and have a flat accent...but why does that have anything to do with the choice? Sorry confused.

reply

Maybe because actors don't have to put on a accent, so it look more realistic. Many shows are or were set in Ohio: Harry's Law, Glee, Ed, Greek, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Hot in Cleveland, The Drew Carey Show...

reply

True-I guess Cali. ppl do not have a big one either usually though...so that is why confused.
