Why would RJ be the father after like 6 months of him and Lily having sex?

They're obviously trying to put as much teen pregnancy in their channel as possible.

"It's around 4 o'clock. We've been here since 12 o'clock. Five hours is like enough."

They had sex during the winter dance before the Christmas break. I don't know when the "Mr and Ms Pinkerton" pageant was in the spring, but it's a good guess the time would be as little as 3 months, probably 4 or so. Maybe she had irregular cycles and that's why she didn't know she was pregnant.
