How annoying that it all was so fascinating to watch but ultimately made no sense at all as any kind of objective reality.

But, as a purely subjective thing it would all be quite pointless, so we are left with an alien invasion where this psychologically damaged woman is spared and allowed to live happily ever after amongst the pod people.
