Future GTA/Rockstar Games -- Time and Place

Rockstar has taken GTA to 1980s Miami and to LA, New York, etc... Some consider Red Dead Redemption to be the GTA of the old west. Rumor has it that London will be the backdrop for the next GTA game. Where and/or when would you like the game after that to take place?

I think they should do GTA in a futuristic setting with flying cars, innovative weapons and the Liberty City of the future. It would be part Back to the Future 2, Blade Runner, and Metropolis.

I agree and therefore consider John Marston to be the most likeable GTA protagonist with Luis running second.

As for the next GTA game, I'd like to see it take place in a traditional GTA setting (Vice City, San Andreas or San Fiero).

If it takes place in Vice City, then I'd like to see Luis, Gay Tony and Yusuf establish a new chain of nightclubs (as per Yusuf's promise for financial backing) and have the trio run into issues with the usual Miami baddies such as the Yardies or some Columbian cartel.

If it takes place in San Andreas or San Fiero, then I would totally support the protagonist being the great, great, great grandson of John Marston and have him stay true to the family business by hunting bad guys for pay.

NYC, 1925, with the protagonist an Irish hood.

Problem for that is that, apart from being produced by Rockstar, RDR and GTA are unrealted. RDR even mentions real life Amercan cities like New York instead of Liberty City.

I assure you I'm not officer, I've only had a few ales

Still, same engine, same interface, same game style, it may not be canon, but it sure is the same.

I'd like the 1970s. Any city. I don't care. I think the music would be great.

If you're doing 70's, it's gotta be San Fran. That would be a cool place to drive too. And the music would rock, literally.

My first choice would definitely be San Andreas that is my favorite gta game I love that one and I also think Rockstar should vastly improve the skydiving/base jumping in there games like making better animations and tricks while in the air(lol I know this sounds strange) or even different types of rigs. Base jumping in San Andreas is one of my favorite things to do.

I say bring it to Tokyo.

I hadn't thought of that. But that would be f'ing cool. You could have Ginza, the castle, even some old edo-style neighborhoods. Great idea.

1970s San Andreas.

It would be cool to see what that place was like 20 years prior to the game that took place in the early 90s.

I wonder if they can do it as big with the new graphics.

I've been hoping for a GTA set in the 70s for a long time. The only problem I see is that the cell phone has become such an integral part of the game and it obviously wouldn't work if the game took place in the 70s. Tommy having one in the 80s was kind of pushing it, but it worked ok. I'm not sure Rockstar would want to remove that aspect of the game entirely. Although, I haven't played Red Dead Redemption but I'm assuming there's no phone in that game so who knows?

Hey, ya just named my hometown! How did you know that? lol. It would be interesting thats for sure. Just so long as they do a better job keeping to how its laid out (unlike Left 4 Dead 2's Savannah section. Even the Passing DLC looked more like Savannah's River Street area than the entire Dead Center campaign)

Personally, Id like to see them remake Vice City. 80s theme. But that will probably never happen or else theres about half a fan base that probably doesn't want to revisit Vice City 80s era. And since the phone became such a central part of the menu and setting up rendezvous in IV, L&D and BOGT, what kind of reference DID they use in RDR anyway? I haven't played it. But then I can think of a simple solution for this if they wanted to reset it back to the 80s. Phone booths.

As for a NEW location, I think the best bet on where they would go next would probably be Chicago. Got the baseball fields, a river, football stadium, etc. Just seems that would be the most likely since they did two cities on the East coast and a west coast./

I'd like to see either Chicago or San Andreas again. Or maybe Vice City.
