is it really a mental institution?

The more I watch the show with my daughter the more I begin to wonder if all the kids and young adults are delusional with Melody, Harper, Ms. Piccolo, Reed and most other business owners being the caretakers.

Everything is enclosed and serve multiple purposes, sometimes the park is a park, other times it's a dojo, a carnival, etc.

Money is never an issue there, kids help the business owners with no expectations of pay and they get drinks, pizza, and instruments with no concern for cost.

The more I watch the show, the sadder it all seems to me.

not like I'm going to share that with my daughter though, just something that pops into my mind as I watch it.

Well, it is a show aimed at preschoolers, after all, so you might be overanalyzing it just a bit. However, it is an interesting point. It would certainly help explain some of the sillier episodes (the one with the balloon comes to mind).
