Awesome movie, about exploration and mystery of life (and the universe)

The incredible ambiance and atmosphere it pulls you in.
The visuals and effects are stunning.
The plot smartly developed and keeps the tension and mystery super high all the time.
The soundtrack absolutely brilliant.

The bad reviews are from Alien fans who were hoping to see xenomorph running everywhere like wild beasts killing humans like in the past Alien movies, so their ratings represent their disappointment of it not being a typical Alien movie, it doesn't represent the actual quality of this movie.

Not sure about the plot being all that smart, but agree on the rest. I liked it, but it's got some major flaws.

I AGREE...I THOUGHT PROMETHEUS WAS FANTASTIC...AS AN ANCIENT ALIEN ENTHUSIAST,THE PLOT WAS PERFECT FOR ME.

I thought the one really annoying thing was the two idiot ''scientists'' who are left during the night, the way they act, what they do and say, is just so unbelievable and stupid, also the redhair guy being so negative and agressive to everyone for no reason was just over the top, but it's a Hollywood movie so I guess they had to include this type of stereotypes.

Some great ideas, but not executed in a way to draw in the average moviegoer, or even the above-average moviegoer.

The first act had great presentation with some stunning visuals & very intriguing ideas. Unfortunately it largely falls apart in the middle and third act.

Up until the end, it was actually good Star Trek.

It's a fantastic film. Arguably the best in the franchise.
