shareWuhan IS on their doorstep though, isn't it? It's right smack dab in the middle of the country, in fact. Wuhan is a major city and a transportation hub. Also, COVID-19 has killed many more Brazilians, Americans, Indians and Europeans than it has Chinese. This assumes you buy their official death toll, which is possible a bit higher than they've admitted to. Regardless, they definitely DID cover up the outbreak (or tried to, anyway), and have a lot to answer for in that regard.

I remember the initial reporting showing people falling over in the street in China, the masses of bodies in Italy, field hospitals being set up on the edge of towns, etc. Then very soon after these all got shut down unused and it was a case of it was going to kill your frail grandmother if you weren't careful...
So what happened? Was it initially a real killer?
