So, anyone here changed their minds about this film since its release?

Specially after its sequel.

I think they should have kept it separate from the Alien universe until the very end. I quite liked the creepy vibe in this movie. You didn't know what was gonna happen because the aliens were so different from Xenomorphs

Plus the mystery of the ancient ruins and the "engineers" piqued my interest

Covenant killed all of that. Just a basic Xenomorph movie again. The "engineers" were shit. One android killed off an entire supercivilization with a single warship (granted a ship designed to wipe out Earth). Covenant was just lame

And there's only so much you can do with Xenomorphs. They're just mindless animals that kill. They could expand the universe more. In a universe where Xenomorphs are possible, then other alien organisms are possible. Or mutant breeds of Xenomorphs (I know this has been touched on, but only in a shitty way)

I'm shocked that Ridley Scott is gonna make a 3rd one. The old man is past his prime. And even in his prime he was a tad overrated. It's sad that classic sci-fi movies like Alien and Terminator just keep being re-hashed, with no significant evolution in the story. It's just the same thing played out over and over again, with a few details changed. They're money grabs, no passion goes into them

Actually, there's a pretty interesting book trilogy called the rage war - where you have humans, aliens, predators and robots - with humans finally managing to communicate with predators via translator - and aliens beings controlled by immortal humans and their android underlings.
I feel like it was much better done than anything in these new films.

I liked both the message and the way it was delivered. As to the sequel - only the message.

I've always felt that Prometheus had the potential to be a great film. The set up was great, the cinematography was good but it just goes nowhere from the second to third act.

The "sequel" was just formulaic & bad all around & pretty much destroyed all of the untapped potential of Prometheus.

It's a mess followed by an even bigger mess - it doesn't make the original mess a masterpiece.

Not me. It's still a frustrating film. It looks incredible and has some great moments and a couple of stand out performances, especially from Fassbender, but it's also got such serious flaws, like its supposedly elite professionals and scientists acting in very silly way.

And the explanation it gave for the origin of the xenomorph aliens is very mundane and disappointing.

I loved Prometheus and still do, love the whole atmosphere as well as the soundtrack.

I was entertained but ultimately disappointed because I had higher hopes for the series. I thought it was lame that the protagonist was another Ripley figure and David another Ash. Even so, this film is still much better than Covenant.

Absolutely great movie, which would have been greater without a few stupid Hollywood 2 cent humor things like the scientists touching the snake like creatures or the captain of the ship being constantly so careless.
