Rick + wife? (spoilers)

I had a question about Rick (one of the search and rescue team in the calendar) and his wife. In the movie, EJ has to convince his wife to let him pose for the calendar which he does. But at the calendar launch party we see Rick flirting with some other woman and getting her number while other women gossip about them. So was there further clarification in the book? Did he dump his wife when he got attention from other women or did she leave him? It was sorta confusing, and though it was a small part of the story it seemed kind of sad at the end that everything had worked out for EJ, but Laura's marriage broke up.

Didn't it mention that Laura had been cheating on him? I could be mistaken though, but I thought I heard three of the other characters talking about that during the bar scene.

The ending was somewhat rushed and lacks clarity.
Did EJ settled in Montana or did she just decided to have a long-distance relationship with Will?
Probably,she just did as it requires to have a formulaic ending that everyone has to live happily ever after.

First, consider that EJ's old boss fired her, and had her blacklisted in New York, for breaking the heels off her shoes the first time that EJ worked for her.

Now, don't you think we can take it for granted that she fired EJ, again, for running out on her in the middle of a big presentation? Or, did you get the impression that EJ's boss had become soft and compassionate enough to blow off a big account because her employee's boyfriend was in the hospital?

If not, EJ has no reason to go back to New York, except to listen to her mother question whether she allowed her dog enough time for socialization training when he was a puppy.

That wasn't EJ's mom, it was her sister.
