I didn't bother looking at the cast list before watching this. I recognized Chris Pine and Hugh Jackman, but I thought Pitch was Paul Bettany and Tooth was Natalie Portman, so I was surprised when I saw the credits. And I had no clue who Santa was....I was shocked when I saw it was Alec Baldwin (I've never heard him do an accent outside of comedy skits...I'm impressed.)
shareRise of the Guardians is such an underrated film. I agree with you about the voice actors! I think the film would have done much better if it had been released in mid December because families always look for Christmas themed films just before, on, or after Christmas. Unfortunately, the film had a $145 million Production Budget and only grossed $306.9 million Worldwide ($103.4 million Domestic and $203.5 Overseas) and DVD sales didn't help the Bottom Line enough to merit a sequel. Their plan was to do films of the original story of each Guardian. Sad.
Apart from any commentaries I always watch the DVD extras first. I always find it helpful to see whose voice is portraying the character before I watch the movie.
I must say that I would never have guessed the actors. Apart from the Easter Bunny with his Australian tone perhaps.
