Worst Snipes Movie Ever!!

Where to begin..... Direction is abysmaal, music is random and out of sync with events in movie, full of no-name cheap actors, the whole thing is B-Movie quality! The director throws in these random artsy frames at the weirdest times that are totally out of character with the film, it's just weird and amateurish.

Why did Snipes agree to this I will never know.

The action is terrible to, I don't think I saw a single magazine reload in the entire film, in one scene there were over 50 shots fired from a pistol with no reloading lol...the list goes on, films have moved on from basic errors like that.

I think Snipes is great - but this film is a nightmare he should've avoided like the plague!

This should be a straight to DVD if it goes to the big screen it will die a painful death.

I actually enjoyed this film. This was Snipes' best film in the last 6 years in my opinion. It definetely was better than stuff like "Unstoppable", "7 Seconds", "The Detonator", & "The Marksman". Definetely his best direct to dvd movie. It's not going to theaters, since it's been given a February 15th dvd/blu-ray release date.

I do agree that some parts of the movie weren't the greatest, but I thought overall it wasn't a badly made movie at all. I think the director just wanted to make a stylish film, instead of just having every shot in the movie to have an ordinary feel to it. Sometimes the stylish shots were overused, but other times I felt they worked well.

By the way, there actually was some known actors in it. They certaintly aren't A-listers but they are definetely recognizable like Robert Davi, Ernie Hudson, & Gary Daniels.

This was terrible, especially any scene involving a gun. The hand to hand fighting scenes were a bit better at least.

I had to laugh at one point because of how many times people got clear shots at snipe and completely missed. These are trained professionals that apparently can't aim a gun.

SPOILER

I will say I respect the director's choice of not showing the priest open the bag at the end and allowing the viewer to figure out what happened on their own. I was fully expecting a final shot of him opening it and was pleasantly surprised they didn't do it.

What the *beep* is wrong with this world when a simple, but very good action movie like this one is labeled as "terrible", yet stupid movies like skyline, twilight and other trendy movies are talked about as good movies?

I wonder what would have happened if some of the classic action movies from the 80s and 90s came out for the first time today..

They would have been killed by you movie nerds who picked on every stupid detail.

This is a very good action. Short and simple.. Good action scenes. Good enough acting. Stop being so sad.

agree the cinematography was pure speculative and sucked but the movie was kinda ok, well executed.

also agree about the reloading issue :) I usually don't count bullets when I watch but this was just ridiculous

I liked the fact that half the movie took place at the hospital, the fight scenes were actually good for a budget movie, what discipline is Snipes doing?
It reminded me a lot of some aggressive/defensive moves I was taught in karate long time ago when you respond to an attack by also attack at the same time, very hard to execute in real life tho

except for the blonde the acting was ok too

compared to seagal or WWE budget-actions I liked this style more

The fighting in this movie is probably as far away from classical karate as you can get. But i know what you are trying to say.

I am glad that movies start to use more "realistic" fighting instead of the wire-fu style or kickboxing style that have been used since the 70s..

Movies like the Jason Bourne movies, Taken, The James Bond movies after Daniel Craig became Bond, Expendables, This movies, ect

I like the way the fighting goes in todays action movies.

I didn't mean it looked like clsssic karate, overall it looked more like the stuff they use in movies and computer games nowadays the movies u mention, I read someplace they say most of it is krav-maga, it was just a few moves snipes did, he moved a little sideways and kicked the guy at the same time the guy attacked him, looked familiar, just like coacch said in my old shito ryu class :)

I was never very interested in martial arts I just did it because it was great exercise so I am not very knowledgeable about that stuff

Ummm, sorry, this was HORRIBLE! So disappointed with Wesley...I know actors like to blame directors, but Wesley should have known better.

You are welcome to look at my posting history - I am not a troll - but I have to be honest on this one....DO NOT waste your time. I love Wesley too - damn, why did he have to do this film (I think we know the reasons, but seriously, he could have picked a better story line.)

OK, gonna try and reclaim my evening with a better movie.

Maybe it's because I DON'T watch alot of those "WWE/MMA" direct-to-video action crapfests, maybe it's because I was hoping more of Abel Ferrara's influence would have stuck to the film (Abel was director of the film for the first week or so, but he left to concentrate on the aborted "Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde" film with 50 Cent), maybe it's because Snipes used to be a GREAT action star, and I was hoping he'd make his last film before prison a great one.

But, whatever the reason, this SUCKED! Normally, I am too sucked into a "movie's universe" to notice things like guns with 10,000 round clips; assassins that miss (or hit) their target, depending on the script's needs; and other "movie mistakes". This film though, krist!! Stupid "artsy shots", stunt people trying to act (a deep voiced, wearin'-LOTS-of-cover-up-over-facial-hair-stubble, monotonic Zoe Bell, anyone??), and one thing nobody else has pointed out on the entire "Game Of Death" board - the ending.

Yes, he went through the proper "Christian Redemption Process" (Snipes told the priest all of his bad deeds, was forgiven for them, and even given a vague 'act of contrition'. [Something like, "Let Jesus into your heart, and do whatever Jesus tells you to do"]) That whole part was probably left over from Abel's work on the film, as he's REALLY into Catholic redemption. But what happens to Snipes... besides playing b-ball? He's the most wanted man in the country, accused of being a CIA agent gone bad, who killed his own team members (and many innocents) in order to get tens of millions of dollars; other than the doctor, there's no one to even corroborate one scintilla of the truth (the "CIA boss", who said this couldn't be linked to the CIA [so no paper trail or anything] was killed early on). So I'd say about 5 seconds after he plays hoops in the final scene, a SWAT sniper takes him out.

This was terrible. Aka "Art of War XIV". Another lame dvd release for Snipes. Why is still playing the same character 12 years later? The story and the screenplay sucked. Snipes, Bell, and Daniels' talents were wasted. The acting was wooden. The only character worth watching was Redvale. The fight scenes would hv been so much better without all the choppy editing. I'm a big fan of Snipes but this was unwatchable. Not his worst but a big disappoinment.

Before they ran the opening credits, having already shown the intro where the team takes out some Muslim dude, I knew the editor would be East-European.

Same crappy editing as in all the other crappy movies edited by East-Europeans. Kind of similar to how some of the girls in my class who just "discovered" PowerPoint produce slideshows. They make sure to include every single special effect in every single slide.

If the editor hadn't been a complete idiot at his job, this movie would have been ten times as good. Very anti-climactic the way it was edited and I don't know how anyone could've given that the green light.

Not going to get into the acting, because in my honest opinion, other than the dude playing Smith, and Snipes, of course, the actors sucked. I recognized some of them, but they really, really sucked. Or maybe they didn't. Maybe they just knew the editor would mess up their scenes completely anyway and decided not to bother.

And what's up with the psych ward? "It's you! I dreamed you!" The hell is that kind of The Ring scene to include in an action movie? Some psycho girl with pasty skin and black hair doing the whole horror movie line thing, what the hell?

I watched this last night and was so disappointed. I always thought any movie with Wesley Snipes in it had some redeeming value. It really wasn't his fault-it was just a bad movie. It looked to me like someone just out of film school did it.

I'm not a hater at all- I was just really disappointed. My boyfriend and I had more fun doing a "Mystery Science Theater" or Beevus and Butthead type ongoing critique of the movie. For example, when blonde chick tells Wesley-"I know all your move." What- he has just one? That was the only entertainment value. Even Welsey appeared to us to b going through the motions and not putting a lot of emotional investment in it.

Hopefully, someone will send a script his way that is worthy of his bad-ass-ness and help with his financial woes. I'm not giving up on him yet!

It wasn't that bad - and Snipes worst EVER???? Come ooon, it was good B-movie. It had some issues, but still.

I quite enjoied it, oldschool style - i was even suprised how good this was, compared to Steven Seagal crap from the past years.

One of his best in 5years, he has done far worse movies!

reply

There's no way you can say this is his worst ever, since it's better than Art of War II and that Julie Numar (or whatever) movie.

Put down the hash pipe, dude. This is WAAAAAY worse than Art of War II. I didn't like AOW2 at first but after I saw this, I went back and watched it and it's alot better than GOD. This movie was just terrible and I could never bring myself to sit through it again. It's very sad because Gary Daniels and Zoe Bell are great action stars and on paper it sounded like a great combo for Snipes but the director and editor just ruined this.

The Julie Newmar movie (To Wong Foo, Thank You, Julie Newmar) isn't even a fair comparison as it's NOT a Wesley Snipes movie where he's the lead and it's a totally unrelated genre.

Ok, so I've just watched it again because it was free on Crackle and I was stuck in hurricane Sandy with nothing to do. I've upgraded my opinion on second viewing. Still a lame movie but better on a second look. The fight scenes weren't as bad as I remember. It's the editing that was annoying. And the story still sucks. But it was more entertaining this time around. I think the bias comes from the title. If you're gonna use a Bruce Lee title for your movie at least bring the action. This movie had Snipes, Daniels and Bell and there were too few fight scenes in the whole movie. At least not enough quality fight scenes. But I still say it was one of Snipes' weaker efforts.

I was ever-so-mildly curious about this movies but i can't watch it now after reading all the negativity. I forced myself to sit through Gallowalker and that was pure pain. Not hatin'though cuz i have always liked Wes since '98.
