Not sure why this is rated so low


My husband and I watched it this past weekend and enjoyed it a lot. There are a lot of things I'd like to say but I actually think Theodore Roosevelt says it better than I can:

It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.

Really excellent post.
I for one, loved the movie.

Some people may assume such a person should be without flaws - others see a woman being lauded for doing so much good, they are compelled to scrutinize & scream out her faults...


In the end, she was a selfless human being just trying to do something.

Taking on a project about Mother Theresa has to be a daunting task, and all the credit to those who did it justice. Juliet Stevenson gave a solid performance, imagine playing Mother Theresa! It is often inspiring and moving, how many waste of time movies can you say that about? Let the naysayers enjoy naying.

It is rated so low because boys and young men rate it low, 19% of the votes are "1" and from those silly young men who either can't recognize a fine movie or just want to vote down anything with a religious theme.

The rest of us give it 8, 9, or 10 because it truly is a fine movie of an exemplary life, a woman dedicated to serving to poor and the outcast simply because it was the right thing to do.

I could understand rating it 7, 6 or 5, but giving it "1" is just being hateful, and unfortunately there are quite a few hateful people around. I suspect those who voted "1" didn't even see the movie, but that's the IMDb for you. We all have to take "ratings" with a grain of salt.

You think disliking this movie is hateful? What?! This movie sucked, but I don't hate Mother Teresa.

"This movie sucked" isn't an analysis and it just means nothing. The acting is good, it tells a good story, why would anyone think "it sucks"??

Because the acting isn't good and it looks like a movie that would be shown on the Hallmark Channel. It's also more boring than watching paint dry. There are some reasons to hate it.
