I stopped watching when...

She admitted she tried to hold a flimsy cup between her knees while trying to add cream and sugar. Coffee should be brewed at 195 to 205 dgrees. McD's only had theirs at 180 to 190. Was it McD's fault his car had no cup holders? All that this show told me is why this was the perfect frivilous lawsuit case.

Where is it that you learned coffee should be brewed at that temp?

But what temperature should it be *served* at? Most recipes will include a "let cool before serving."

reply

Your numbers are wrong. I clearly explained it to you in the other thread. You're being willfully dishonest now.

The correct term for addressing any ex president is to refer to the highest office held before they became president. It's a common mistake when every ex pres. is still referred to as "President". There is only one President at a time in this country. W. should be referred to as Governor Bush, his father would be Ambassador Bush and Clinton would be Gov. Clinton.

No, it wasn't a joke. Obama should be addressed as Senator when he leaves office.

Take your meds, nutcase.

The driver took the coffee, gave it to the woman and he pulled the car over and parked it before she took the lid off.

Savvy?

Or rather, you seemed to know everything, till it turned out you didn't.

You cons are really predictable, unhinged, childish, tedious, hypocritical, etc....but then, I'm generalizing.

That about says it all. You aren't right, you're mentally unhinged/delusional.

Right. When was that? The Civil War? Again, kindly f_uck off, weirdo.

What in God's name are you talking about. It was conservatives that were primarily isolationist prior to Pearl Harbor, ya nut.

Again, delusional thinking. You've convinced yourself that your self serving revisionism is reality. It is not.

"That's what a gym teacher once told me."

reply

[deleted]

How on Earth are you gonna suggest that liberals were isolationist prior to WW2 when the most prominent liberal in the free world at the time was FDR who was more interventionist than he was even comfortable leading on? To the point where he was building up a military for a war most Americans didn't want to get into, and funneling support to Britain secretly in opposition to a conservative Congress that up to that point had been passing a string of Neutrality Acts for a decade.

Give it up.

reply

[deleted]

I learned history from the reality based community, not revisionist delusion.

Rearmament began in 1938, that is an incontrovertible fact. You are fundamentally incorrect on that point.

Said rearmament was done over the objections of prominent conservatives such as Robert Taft. This as well, is incontrovertible.

Delude yourself and froth at the mouth all you like about liberal boogeymen. Nobody with a basic education or even just a working internet connection could possibly take your drivel as anything but the fundamentally flawed delusion it is.

"That's what a gym teacher once told me."

I'll take that as you conceding the point. The end.

You didn't prove or even say ANYTHING about the issue in your last post, you clown.

Look, you are the worst kind of partisan hack. Your ignorance and/or dishonesty are without rival and I have suffered you far too long.

Convince yourself of any and all the nonsense you like. It's of no consequence to sane people.

So if you continue posting here, you'll be talking to yourself. But I'm sure that's nothing new for you.

Bye.

If you remember in the movie, a lawyer mentioned that at the temperature that that particualer McDonalds was brewing their coffee, it would have been harmful even to swallow it.

reply

No sh/t! Haven't you ever drunk coffee? It's frickin hot when you get it. Everyone knows coffee is hot for crying out loud.

Everyone knows coffee is hot; but not scalding to the point where it ate down to her bone, for fu_ck's sake.

I've been drinking coffee since I was 10 years old. I knew after a very short time that it was very hot. She's lucky it wasn't tea, that's even hotter.

You're seriously using a coffee fan site as your reasoning for WHY coffee should be at that temperature??

Just because people are fans of coffee, or brew it a lot, and label themselves knowledgeable about something....doesn't make them so!!

Congratulations, you stopped watching the movie BEFORE it got to even the 5 minute mark. You've effectively kept yourself living in ignorance.

Jury decided that it was McD's fault because it was so common at that time that cars would not have cup holders. Also they sold coffee at drive trough so this caused people to be subjected to risk of coffee spills. Seeing in how big volumes McD's was selling coffee and how many injuries had there been in the past they decided to create incentive for Mcd's to change the temperature of their coffee to improve public safety.

reply

They saw a big corporation and decided to give an old lady a bunch of money. It's a real problem in this country. It's why health care costs are so high.

reply

If you watched the movie until the end at all, you would realize that the documentary addresses the apparent reasons why health care costs are so high and it has nothing to do lawsuits.

reply

See, this is something I'm still uncertain about, because I'm a tea drinker & for black tea, the water needs to be boiling when you steep the leaves/bags. Anyone who drinks it would know that you can't/shouldn't drink it immediately or even up to 6-7 minutes after you've put it in your mug/teapot unless you want to risk burning yourself. From looking at coffee websites, the temperature that McDonald's brewed their coffee, it seems consistent with their optimal brewing standards.

reply

I wouldn't try to hold anything hot in a styrofoam cup between my knees.

What we have here is failure to communicate!

reply

It says at the end that McDonald's lowered the temp. by ten degrees. It can probably still burn a that temp., so I'm not certain what good this lawsuit did to reform corporate/franchise standards & consumer safety.

I still think it's a common sense matter, that coffee/tea is served hot & you have to be smart about it.

reply

The temp at which coffee is brewed is irrelevant. It's about the holding temp not the brewing temp. They can brew it at whatever temp they want but they can adjust the machines it's held in to be a safe temp.
