NBC's Emergency! (1972-1979). It may not be as high intensity or as high drama and somewhat dated by today's standards but it is a quality production.
Similar to Trauma it focuses on a team of paramedics, firefighters, doctors , and nurses who respond quickly to accidents and disasters in the Los Angeles area.
Trauma definitely has the action but I preferred the grounding interaction and relationships between the characters of Emergency.

I'm with you. On Emergency! when something blew up, it was a real explosion, not a CGI explosion. And Emergency! was not soap-opera-ish, you didn't have to watch each episode, in order, in order to understand the relationships between characters.

Wasn't it classy of them to cast Kevin Tighe on Trauma?
